The study aims to identify climate change hotspots within the Indian Western Himalayan (IWH) region, where vulnerability to shifting climatic conditions is amplified by human influence. Climate change hotspots are the regions that are vulnerable to the dynamic climatic conditions due to result of anthropogenic activities. The focus is on mapping these hotspots and comparing the projected impacts between the years 2021-2040 and a baseline period of 1970-2000. The employed methodology employs "Weighted Overlay Analysis" (WOA) in conjunction with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) based on two key climatic variables, temperature and precipitation, which are fundamental drivers of ecological changes. The forests within the Indian Western Himalayan area hold immense ecological and societal significance, serving as a critical natural asset on which the sustenance of a significant portion of the human populace depends. The overarching goal is to evaluate the potential repercussions of climate change on the forests of the Indian Western Himalayas.
