Over the last ten years a number of computer programs have been developed which do symbolic and algebraic operations as well
as numeric calculations and graphics. Mathematica is the latest entry into this arena. This report gives a brief introduction into its
capabilities and illustrates its power for engineering applications, including an example of static covariance analysis.
