Abstract

The adiabatic analysis of the multi-level Raman far-infrared laser is carried out in the limit where the off-diagonal elements of the density matrix decay very rapidly compared to the diagonal elements. Analytic results are obtained for the gain spectrum. Applications to the high pressure limit of the NH₃ and CH₃F laser are discussed.
