The design process of a system for ECRH at 140 GHz, 1.6 MW, on the FTU tokamak is reviewed and low power measurements on crucial components are shown. The system is based on an oversized circular corrugated wave guide, matched by means of mirrors at one end to a gyrotron having gaussian output, and at the other end to the magnetized plasma.
