Millimeter-wave power transmission is a viable means to provide energy for many systems. The use of millimeter-wave frequencies has the advantages of small size and light weight in antenna and rectenna. Recently, a 35 GHz rectenna has been developed at Texas A&M University with a 39% RF to DC conversion efficiency. This paper assesses the current technology and applications of millimeter-wave power transmission.
