We report on the theoretical study and numerical analysis of the electromagnetic and thermal be- haviour of a cryogenically cooled gyrotron window. Such windows are needed for the high-power (PAW > 500 kW), long pulse (At > 1 s) gyrotrons required for ECRH. The dielectric material chosen for our prototype window is sapphire, which has a strongly temperature-dependant loss tangent
