Abstract
The requirement for the destruction of anti-personnel mines is generating a need for much enhanced detection systems based upon GPR and other sensors. The paper considers the requirements for a vehicle based radar briefly describing the hardware and software. Early results are presented which show that 100% detection rates may be achieved but much additional work is required to reduce the false alarm rate. The paper includes work on one feature that allows targets to be recognized. This is based upon analyzing the natural resonances of the target using Prony's algorithm. In all cases real-time analysis is implemented.
