Abstract
In this work, the self-image and Lau fringes visibility is studied when a birefringence grating stored in a volume photorefractive crystal without using an analyzer is employed. The Talbot and Lau fringe visibility for a phase grating depends on the phase modulation. Therefore, the photorefractive grating is studied in terms of the parameters that determine the phase modulation: local illumination, applied voltage and crystal thickness.
