Abstract
Altair is the AO system developed by the National Research Council of Canada for the Gemini North Telescope. Currently in the integration phase, the performance of the system, and in particular, of the real-time controller (RTC), is being fully characterised. We begin with a review of the requirements for the RTC, the context within the rest of the Wavefront Control System, and a description of the processing the RTC is responsible for. We then present the actual performance results of the RTC integrated within Altair. We compare these with the benchmarked results.
