Abstract
This contribution explains the physics principles of titanium-sapphire laser and the technology used to produce ultra-short pulses of 100 fs, at a 76 MHz rate, 13 nJ energy per pulse with an average power of 1.1 W. The characterisation of the laser pulses and the potential applications uses indirect optical methods for them, such as, optical autocorrelation, interference and spectrometry. This contribution describes the multiple applications in several fields of science, engineering, medicine and telecommunications. Finally an optical arrangement, for the characterisation of pulsed laser and its potential applications is discussed and the measurements that can be done in the Laboratory.
