Dimitris Poursanidis is a research fellow in the Regional Analysis Division of the Institute of Applied and Computational Mathematics, FORTH. He holds a M.Sc. Integrated Coastal Zone Management from the University of the Aegean, Department of Marine Science (2008) and a B.S. on Ecosystem Management (2004) from the Higher Technological Institute of Crete. He has work in both academic (HCMR, NHMC, UNEP/MAP, University of Athens, University of the Aegean) and private sector (Marathon Data Systems, NCC, terraSolutions, WWF Hellas, etc) on projects focused on the coastal, marine and terrestrial environment. His main research interests include Geographic Database Applications, Geographic Information Systems, Satellite Remote Sensing applications in the coastal and marine environment, Environmental Monitoring, Cartography of the Biodiversity, Biodiversity issues through Species Distribution Modelling and biodiversity in urban environments (terrestrial / marine).
