A procedure for haze detection and removal from a single image using dark channel and fast bilateral filter has
been developed. It involves the analysis of the statistics of the haze images. The dark channel prior with the haze
imaging model is used to estimate the parameters of the haze and recover a high quality haze-free image. With the
fast bilateral filter, we can acquire the fine transmission estimation and has low computation. Experimental results
on variety of hazy images demonstrate the proposed method is simple and powerful.

License plate location is the basis of LPR, and it is the most important part of it. Tilt vehicle license plate has an adverse
effect on its character segmentation and recognition. In this paper, tilt models of a plate are analyzed and a novel
approach for number plate tilt correction is presented. Horizontal incline angle is obtained by combining horizontal or
vertical edge of a plate with its rotation projection. Bilinear interpolation rotation correction is performed to the plate
which is tilt to the horizontal line. Experimental results show that the method can be implemented easily and offers
robustness when dealing with dirty number plates and license plates in variant lighting conditions.
License plate location is the basis of LPR, and it is the most important part of it. The strategy in this article aims to find
the precise horizontal edgy which just cover characters without frame and screws and noises and so on. The method
process license plate images after rough location and its steps include an adaptive thresholding method on the basis of
maximum between-cluster variance, and a corrosion morphology. Finally it adjusts borders according to distance
distribution, thus derives a new plate image whose height equals to that of characters. This method is less restrictive in
complexity of the image background, and with a high location speed. It is a highly efficient method of license plate
location.
