PON (passive optical network) has
employed widely in FTTH (fiber to the home) as
an attractive technology for "the last mile" in
access network, which have been developed in
various ways such as broadband-PON (B-PON),
Ethernet-PON (E-PON), and wavelength
division multiplexed (WDM)-PON. In particular
the WDM-PON has been considered as a next-generation
solution to follow the time division
multiplexing TDM-PONs, and most studies to
combine TDM and WDM techniques for near
future deployment. In this paper we propose a
new hybrid CWDM/TDM-PON architecture
which is called nhCT-POM (New Hybrid
CWDM/TDM-PON). And a novel idea about
wavelengths multiplex/de-multiplex based on
point-to-multipoint structure is presented. The
following contents are expatiated in this paper:
the overall nhCT-PON architecture, the OLT
(optical line terminal) design, the RNMux/
Demux (remote node mutiplex/demultiplex)
design, ONU/ONT (optical network
unit/optical network terminal) design and the
coverage of nhCT-PON.
